Plantinum #3776 Century Fountain Pen Fuji Unkei "Unkai" Limited Edition
Pre-order now for dispatch in July/August.
Please note: orders containing pre-orders will be shipped when all items on the order are available.
Platinum #3776 Century Unkei "Unkai" fountain pen with translucent AS resin barrel, featuring lines cut in a pattern that represents the cloud layers around Mount Fuji. Unkei means clouds, and this series celebrates the beauty of the clouds around Fuji-san, with Unkai meaning 'cloud sea', inspired by the layers of clouds that form around the mountain, surrounding it like a white sea. The coloured cap and grip section are inspired by the colours of Mount Fuji in the autumn.
The Platinum #3776 Century range introduces the new 'Slip and Seal' airtight cap to the superb #3776 model. The innovative new screw-on cap system uses an inner plastic seal with a strong spring. The primary benefit of this system is improved storage ability - the ink will not dry out even if left for over a year. An added benefit is improved resistance to leaks due to pressure changes.
Slip and Seal cap pens are compatible with Platinum Carbon and Pigment inks for everyday use.
The nib of the #3776 is a beautiful piece of work - made in-house at Platinum, and all are hand-tested at the factory. This nib and feed are the same as those used in the legendary Nakaya Urushi pens.
Supplied with a converter for use with bottled ink. Platinum recommends Platinum Fountain Pen Ink, though of course any quality bottled ink can be used. Also takes Platinum ink cartridges.
Includes a 20ml bottle of exclusive ink - Fuji-no-Ebizome. The name translates roughly as "Fuji grape-dye," and the inspiration is Mount Fuji at twilight, that particular hour when the slopes shift into deep, brooding grape-red. It's a poetic starting point, and the ink delivers on it. On paper, the base colour sits somewhere between purple and red, but the real pleasure is in the sheen: catch it in the right light, and you'll find it shifting — hints of green appearing where you least expect them. It's the kind of ink that makes you look at your own writing twice.
14kt gold nib, rodium-plated. '#3776' logo is engraved on the cap ring.
Weight 20.5g, 140mm long closed, 120mm open, 155mm posted. 15.4mm max. barrel diameter.
The #3776 name comes from the height in metres of Mt.Fuji, the highest and most beautiful peak in Japan.
Supplied gift-boxed.
